Project Background
The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has received financing from the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) towards the cost of the Technical Assistance for Financing Framework for Rogun Hydropower Project (the TA Project).
The TA Project will help to: (a) strengthen technical, environmental and social aspects of the Rogun hydropower plant construction project (Rogun HPP Project); (b) develop the commercial framework of the Rogun HPP Project; and (c) strengthen the institutional capacity of Rogun PMG.
Main objectives of the assignment
The main task carried out by Project Translator is high-quality written translation of all letters, correspondence, documentation, presentation, materials related to the Project from English into Russian/Tajik and vice versa, verbal interpretation for PMG staff at official meetings, conferences, working discussions related to the Project, translation of technical, socio-economic and other specialized documentation, regulations, reports, agreements, contracts and editing and revising translated documents.
Qualification requirements:
- At least a Master’s Degree in linguistics or other relevant field.
- At least 5 years of experience in providing professional translation and interpretation services (from/to English, Russian, and Tajik)
- Experience with projects funded by International Financial Institutions is desirable.
- Knowledge of power sector terminology will be an advantage;
- Good knowledge and experience of writing formal documents;
- Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, Internet, E-mail, etc.).
Fluent written and spoken English, Tajik and Russian languages. Fluency in Tajik is an added advantage.
The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to Section III, paragraphs, 3.14, 3.16, and 3.17 of the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers” July 2016 and revised November 2017, August 2018, and November 2020 (“Procurement Regulations”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
